Story 1
The giant man came crashing out of the sea and into the city,
No warnings, just absolute terror. He looked panicked and just headed straight, no deviation, at over a 100ft tall, nothing was getting in his way. He didn’t even care that he was killing so many; he didn’t even know what he was killing. He was a hundred feet tall, panicked, and running from nothing. He didn’t look down. He didn’t slow. Buildings broke around his knees. Streets tore open under his feet.
Then he just stopped and fell to his knees.
The Cathedral stood before him with a beautifully carved spire and ancient stained-glass windows.
The giant began to pray.
Story 2
Judy was pretty tired; work seemed to take an age today, especially after she had gotten the package delivery alert on her phone. It had arrived.
The time portal had been on some ‘Dark Web’ website that she had stumbled across while looking for cheap cigarettes.
The instructions seem simple enough.
‘Place the time disk on the floor.’
‘Turn the switch on.’
‘Then go through the portal that appears.’
Judy turned it on. The noise was deafening. The house shook so hard she thought it would collapse.“ She almost switched it off, but she didn’t.
The portal that appeared was the size of her thumb.
Story 3
Martha walked the same route to work for thirty-two years. This morning, the man who sold the Big Issue outside the station wasn’t there. The street was empty. No buses. No cars. Just the wind. Her phone had no signal. The lights were stuck on red. She crossed anyway. The station was deserted. One train sat at the platform, doors open, lights on. No driver. No passengers. She got on. The doors closed behind her. The train didn’t move. She sat down and waited. Footsteps came down the carriage. Slow. Deliberate. She didn’t turn around. A voice said, “You’re early.”Martha closed her eyes. “I know.”The footsteps stopped. The train stayed still. And Martha sat there, waiting for something she had always known was coming, but had never believed would arrive on time
Story 4
Ashley had pretty much found out she could fly from about 16…she just put it down to hormones.
She only flies by herself, and nobody has ever seen her doing it.
Ashley left home at 15. She was being physically abused by her mum, dad, and younger sisters, which wasn’t supposed to be in the script. There is this massive hill just outside her village that she goes to.
She lies on top of this old, rusted Ford Escort, takes her drug of choice and flies
Story 5
The internet is hunting Jacob; he is terrified and hasn’t been out of his house for days. He was recorded on some people’s smartphones in a wheelchair, at the top of a steep hill, and just letting himself freewheel down it. The thing is, Jacob used the wheelchair along a straight road to get to this point. The wheelchair lost all control and threw him into a garden, from which he got up and ran away. The internet is accusing Jacob of fraud and not needing a wheelchair. What they don’t know is that, as ever, the internet is jumping to conclusions, and he had just collected a second-hand one for his arthritic mother, so that she can get out and about. Now neither of them will be leaving the house anytime soon.
